Context

At Disrupt Experience (2023 to 2026) I designed company and client websites in Figma, then built them: bydisrupt.com, By The Underdog (Wix, with a CMS, blog and event booking), Mediflow and Medicus (Wix), and the first version of engagebydisrupt.com.

By The Underdog: By the Underdog needed a comprehensive community platform to support their mission of empowering underrepresented entrepreneurs. They required full-stack solution enabling event hosting, blog content publishing, and member engagement without ongoing developer support. The platform needed to serve diverse community members with varying technical literacy while maintaining professional appearance supporting their brand credibility.

The challenge

By The Underdog: The core challenge was building full-featured community platform with CMS, blog, and event booking enabling non-technical team autonomy. Key challenges: CMS requirements: Team needed ability to publish content, create events, update resources independently without technical assistance Event complexity: Booking system required registration management, capacity limits, automated emails, payment integration Community engagement: Platform needed to encourage member participation, return visits, connections while avoiding ghost town feeling

My approach

By The Underdog: Community Platform

I applied full-stack design approach considering both user-facing experience and admin/content management needs equally. Strategic approach: Dual UX focus: Designed both public-facing member experience and backend CMS workflows for content team Platform leverage: Maximized Wix CMS and app ecosystem capabilities to deliver complex functionality without custom development Scalable architecture: Built content structures and taxonomies supporting community growth without platform limitations Mobile-first community: Prioritized mobile experience knowing community members access between work/life activities

The solution

By The Underdog: I designed the site in Figma and built it in Wix, with a CMS for articles, resources and events, a blog and event booking, so the team publishes without a developer.
